History of Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital

Founded in 1981 by Dr. Steve Weaver, Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital has established a reputation for quality preventive health maintenance, excellence in medicine and surgery, and a commitment to delivering these services with integrity, compassion, and a high level of personal service.

From the beginning, our goal has been to provide quality preventative care for canine and feline patients, as well as a high degree of personal service for our pet owners. Our motto is "Making a difference in the lives of pets and the people who love them." We feel that a personal touch and relationships are extremely important in the care of your pet.

Our practice originally operated out of a 12'x60' trailer and two years later another trailer was added. In 1986 our current facility was built providing complete state-of-the-art medical, surgical, laboratory and kennel facilities for our patients. The hospital was computerized in 1989 and additional square footage for offices, conference room and storage was completed in 1992. In 2009, we transitioned from a paper chart based practice, to a practically paperless practice, providing better service to our clients and patients due to improved internal communications and medical records.

Today almost all diagnostic and treatment can be handled within the hospital --Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital includes all the services and technology one would expect to find in a state of the art animal hospital. However we do not hesitate to take advantage of local specialists when referral is indicated. Evening, weekend and holiday emergencies are handled by CVets (Charlotte Veterinary Emergency & Trauma Services) or Carolina Veterinary Specialists Critical Care Services.

As an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for more than 25 years, Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital adheres to strict requirements for quality medical care and we participate in comprehensive regular inspections. We are proud to be an accredited member of this organization and to be certified at their highest quality level.
