OUR CORE VALUES
Our moral imperative is to be advocates for animals, who cannot be advocates for themselves.
The bond between pets and their owners is very powerful and should be respected and celebrated. We know that clients cannot make good decisions regarding their pet's health unless they are well educated. This is our team's responsibility.
We place a high value on integrity and compassion in our relationships and in our patient care decisions.
We value a daily attitude of optimism. We seek to constantly learn and improve our technical abilities.
We are dedicated to having a clean, well maintained and technically advanced facility.
We realize that good communication, a high level of customer service and excellence in preventative/wellness care are the building blocks of compassionate pet care, and deserve our best effort every day.
Boarding Your Pet with Confidence!
For our Canine Family...
- All of our dogs are put in large individual exercise runs twice daily. The kennel areas are climate controlled. All runs are kept clean with a special disinfectant to maintain a healthy environment.
- For your pet's protection, we request all pets entering our facility be free of fleas and ticks.
- If your pet has any special needs, please let us know these upon admission.
For our Feline Family...
Our feline friends are boarded in a private, quiet room with a window to watch what is “going on”. Each pet has its' own compartment with a resting perch and can be let out for playtime at your request.
Vaccinations
We require all animals to have proof of current vaccinations. For dogs, this includes rabies, distemper, parvovirus and bordetella (infectious bronchitis). For cats, rabies and distemper are required and leukemia is recommended. If your pet is not a patient, our doctors will need to do a thorough physical exam so we will be familiar with any physical problems your pet may have, and to be sure that we understand how you want us to respond to these conditions.
Optional Boarding Services
- Lambswool bedding
- Extra walk outside, in addition to twice daily exercise run trips.
- Yappy Hour

Medications
We administer heartworm prevention at no extra charge. Please bring this and any other medications your pet is taking in clearly labeled containers. Our staff will administer these for a nominal fee based on the number of times per day your pet needs medication.
Feeding
Our standard food for boarding pets is Royal Canine Digestive Low-fat. If your pet has special feeding requirements, please let us know. We will be happy to feed your pet's normal diet if you will bring us the appropriate amount for your pet's stay. We feed once daily in the morning. Multiple feedings per day are billed at a nominal fee.
WHAT MAKES BOARDING WITH SHARON LAKES ANIMAL HOSPITAL DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR BOARDING FACILITY?
- Daily monitoring of how you pet is eating
- Daily monitoring of your pet's “output” (urinations & B.M.'s)
- Ability to recognize and effectively deal with medical issues promptly
- We have chosen to limit the number of pets we board to give us adequate time to give each pet the attention they deserve!
- Luxury hydrosurge baths available
- Boarding Report Card when your pet goes home.
If you pet needs special care or is on important medications, we will happily provide the level of care your pet needs (sometimes a kennel just isn't enough!)
