Pet Loss

One of the most difficult parts of pet ownership is saying goodbye to the animals we love. Even if your pet has lived a long and happy life, he or she has still been an important member of your family and will be missed in countless ways.

Should there come a time when you are considering whether pet euthanasia is appropriate, please know that you can turn to Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital for support. Our veterinarians are experienced in pet end-of-life care and will take the time to help you thoroughly explore the options available to you. We will advise you regarding your pet's quality of life and work with you to determine the next steps, taking into account all of the physical and emotional factors involved.

If you decide that it is time to say goodbye, our veterinary staff will ensure that your pet is as comfortable as possible. A quiet room will be prepared with lambswool bedding. If you would like to be present for the procedure, know that we will be there throughout to support you however we can.

Pet Grief Counseling

People react to grief in different ways. The most important thing is to allow yourself time to work through the loss. Reminders of your pet may appear when you least expect them, over the course of weeks and months. It's OK to stop and acknowledge your grief, as well as celebrate the wonderful memories you have of your furry family member. If there is anything we can do to assist you at this time, please don't hesitate to contact us.
